Project 1 Stamp
Planning:
- I wanted to make my stamp something that represented me, but was more interesting than just my initials. I thought of doing a wave, or a sun, or my initials in an interesting font. I ended up doing a sun.

Construction Description:
- I sculpted the stamp shape, with a handle that would be long and tall enough to comfortably hold so that it was easily useable. I then carved out clay around the sun shape to make it so that the shape would be the thing visible when stamped onto something.
Reflection:
- That was my first time trying to carve out clay to form an image. It took a little bit to understand what parts of the clay were negative space that I had to take away, instead of just drawing the image on my carving the shape I wanted shown. If I were to do it again I would take more time, because I left some clay boogers on before firing, so it was not the smoothest when its done.

Project 2: Face
Planning:
Progress/ finished Pictures:
Firing ticket:
Construction Description: I constructed the face by shaping the shape, and then adding on features like the nose, and the lips, and the eyebrows on to the face. The eyes were made by making holes in the face, outting small balls into the cavity of the holes, and them adding eyelids over some of the ball and blending it tegether to give the eyes dimension. I then carved out the back of the face so that it was no longer a giant ball of clay, but was hollow on the inside with just the face on the outside.
Reflection:
- I ended up not firing and slop bucketing the face because I did not love how it came out enough to glaze it, and it didnt have a purpose to me. It was not a useful piece to take home. I struggles on the eyebrows the most. I kept over blending them into the face, and struggled to get them to be in the correct spot relative to the forehead. I had to add on layers of clay to form the forehed to a better shape, because I miscalculated what the forhead really looked like, and how much space it would need to take up.
Project 3: Underglazed slab
Planning:
- I wanted to make some pieces that I could hang up on my wall in my room. I also wanted to experiment with using a patterned print, so I did both.
Progress/ finished Pictures:
Firing ticket:
Construction Description:
- I rolled out a slab of clay using a rolling pin, and then cut out a circle and a square to make the design on. The circle slab I pained the full thing teal, an then tryed paining a multicolored sun over the teal. The square slab I used a stamp on to create a kindof plant design, and then pained the design one color, and the background another.
Reflection:
-The slabs were my first time unsing underglazes, so I didnt have the right idea of how many coats I needed to use to make the color rich. I really wanted to be able to see the sun colors, so I did the background too light that it came out of the kiln very lightly covered. I tryed to add more color before fining it agin to get it to have more coverage, and the second time I coated it it fired with more color, but because I had to put the background color on my going around the sun, and not just coating the entire thing, the teal color came out looking really messy and uneven.
